Annual Dinner & Presentation Evening 2011
We held our third Annual Dinner on Friday 18th March
2011 at our usual venue, Yelverton Golf Club. A few wives were unable to
attend, but with nine ladies and fifthteen gentlemen in attendance we had
twenty
four
in total
enjoying an evening of much entertainment! Thanks to our sponsors, Dartmoor
Brewery, there were many achievements from the last twelve months that received
due recognition.
Starting at the top, the major award for the
'Golden Moment' was won by Paddy Hambly for his unforgettable full
submersion into Lopwell Dam on a cool September's evening. Paddy
is credited with originating the unwritten
rule to 'never show sympathy to another gentleman's unfortunate mishaps',
and I'm sure he would be happy to know that he has received precisely
zero sympathy from everyone else!!! Indeed, some may have gone beyond
the 'no sympathy' stage to finding the whole episode 'quite amusing'!
