Our second Annual Dinner was held at HQ2 on 24th March 2010. We had a very
good turn out, with just a virus preventing two gents from being able to
make
it and a Chris Rea concert considered as a better option by one other! Including
the WAGs, this left
twenty
two
of us to enjoy an evening of good beer, good food, good wine and good company.
The
major award for the 'Golden Moment' was won by Paul Robinson
for his unforgettable plunge into the fast flowing Devonport
Leat
on a cold October's evening. I will never forget that moment
seeing Paul standing there holding onto his bike with the water
lapping
up over his forks!!
Sadly, Paul and Jo had both succumbed to the Yelverton virus, so next door
neighbour Alan kindly accepted the award on Paul's behalf.
The original plan was that the holder of the Golden Pants would have to
wear them when out on an official GOWCC ride for twelve months. But as
the size is too small for most of the gents, this rule has been ammended
so
that
the
Golden Pants have to be hung in the winner's home for twelve months!!
A
Jail Ale presentation pack was
awarded to Stephen (The Routemeister) Thompson for
being the 2009/10 Champion Rider of the Year
for planning most
of the
routes, being instrumental in getting the jerseys designed
and ordered and for consistantly setting a hot pace at
the front of the pack. His many amusing offs are credited
elsewhere!
Other winners who all received a bottle of Jail Ale from our sponsors
