Date:
Tuesday 9th June 2009
In attendance: Keith, Julian, Colin, Stephen, Glen, Neil,
Sam & David (for
half a mile)!
Distance:
20 miles
Weather: Low cloud, but good.
Time: Departed Willowby 19.45, arrived HQ 22.15.
The
Routemeister was back in body and mind with a tough route
proposed and mainly followed. We set out with eight men with
two new riders, Neil, a colleague of Colin's and Sam, a friend
of Greg's. Sadly David succumbed to mechanical failure within
half a mile of setting
out!
He returned home and took out his road bike for a ride instead.
So, down to Meavy, off road up the track to Ringmoor Cottage,
Scout Hut, Nun's Cross, South Hessary then arrived in Princetown.
Past our sponsors, Dartmoor Brewery, then up the challenging
east face of North Hessary Tor. Down past Yellowmeade Farm,
short
cut to Railway, up track to cross Princetown road then into
Burrator Forest. One final detour over Yennadon then rejoined
David at HQ to start the final process for the jersey design!
Flipper was attacked twice, once by a thorn bush and then
by a rock, if I'd arrived home with all that blood pouring
out of me, Debbie would have sold my bike!!!!
