Date: Tuesday 25th August 2009
Riders: Sam, Keith, Colin & Paul
Distance: 19 miles
Weather: Dry & mild, breezy, fading light.
Time: Departed Willowby at 19.40, arrived HQ at 21.50.
Lots of absentees this evening left just four attendees. I suggested
the White Tor loop which we promptly set off on. So after the
gentle run down to Huckworthy we climbed the first hill of the
night. From there to Pew Tor then around the back of Cox
Tor.
The light faded quite quickly as some black clouds threatened
so lights were needed as we climbed White Tor. We couldn't quite
make out where we were heading when we dropped off 'Paddy's
Path' and came up too low. After some pushing over some old
mine works we got around the top field and headed back towards
the bottom of Cox Tor.
This was considerably harder than the
last time we did it, due to the soggy, dark conditions. This
felt more like a winter ride now! Then firstly Sam (at speed)
and then Paul both took trips over the front! Thankfully both
had soft landings in the soggy conditions!
We climbed back up to the Cox Tor road then took the quickest
route home, mainly by road, with an interesting path down into
Horrabridge thrown in which brought back bad memories for me
as we passed my old school which I hated!! (Especially the food)!
The road back to HQ gave my hip a reminder of why I don't like
roads (apart from cars that is)! The regulation two pints were
taken and Westy divvied up the cost to the nearest 10p!! I did
actually bring with me tonight my Official GOWCC Pink Chit signed
by my wife!!!
