Inaugural Ride of the Jerseys

A chance meeting between Colin and Sam with the suggestion of a ride soon turned into an impressive short notice turn out from five Founder Members! (This was nearly six, but Greg had just come back from a twelve hour drinking session and thought it unwise to even apply for his Pink Chit)!!!! Never before have so many Pink Chits been issued at such short notice! This was possibly because the much heralded GOWCC jerseys had arrived and were being distributed to those that had paid!

The short route to Double Waters was agreed upon and we set out across the old aerodrome to 'Greg's drop off'. This was a test that not many got to the bottom of on two wheels! We proceeded to Double Waters with a new 'Julian Loop' thrown in! In the second part of the descent there was a text book 'Controlled Off' by myself! With my bike in serious need of fettling, my brakes couldn't stop me quickly enough so I just made a classic standing dismount and let my bike carry on into the abyss!!! Sadly I was at the tail of the group and there were no witnesses!

A tricky ride/walk to Double Waters followed then the aptly named 'Bastard Hill' loomed! At the top we all agreed on the aptness of it's name! We continued off road in true GOWCC tradition and picked up the road by Long Ash Nursery. A quick blast back to HQ followed even though the Pink Chits made no mention of 'Drinking Time'!!!

The ordering of the beers required no verbal messages, pointing fingers was all that was needed thanks to the brilliant design of the jerseys!! The 'we'll just stop for one' proposal was soon dropped by a unanimous decision!! (Thanks mainly to Julian for actually having some cash)! With five Founder Members present an impromptu meeting was held and a remarkable number of decisions reached regarding lots of GOWCC policy! It is true what they say, you can't beat an unplanned ride/drinking session!!!!!!!!!!
