Not one of the group out tonight owned a “Roadie” and
all were heartened by the return of Sam (who incidentally said he
would struggle due to lack of practice)! Well given the pace he set
up Walkhampton Hill I would like to be that unfit!! Once on the railway
track we headed for Routrundle and up to the rescue car park, dropping
back down towards Burrator. Following the leat and turning left towards
Leather Tor bridge, Sam still setting a fierce pace he was heard
to comment that he would be slowing down on the downhill sections
as he had lost some confidence since his accident. Another myth!!
From Leather Tor we headed up again towards the Bone Shaker and then
decided to loop back round to Norsworthy Bridge. From the bridge
we took the route up Deancombe and loop around Sheepstor. From here
James took the lead (due to local knowledge rather than Sam slowing
down!!)
and picked up a cracking recognised cycle track to the Burrator Dam.
Those riders who undertook the epic three & half hour route the
week before decided that in order to even out “Jail” time
it would be best to head back to HQ taking the relatively easy route
via Yennadon Down, Iron Mine Lane and Lake, arriving back at a respectable
21:40. Good technical route no punctures (not even James!), no offs
although yours truly nearly earning a point towards the “Golden
Pants” award (again!) along the leat between Burrator Dam and
Yennadon Down!

President's Footnotes:
It was 26th November when
Sam last joined us on a ride so it was indeed great to see his return.
Tonight's
route beside the leat made me a bit twitchy, so for Paul to safely
navigate it was a monumental achievement!!!
David joined us at HQ for an
update on his 'Cunning Plan' to be faced with five riders who own
not one road bike between them!! Having said that, all five seemed
very keen
to play a part in his plan.
And finally, with HQ now stocking Dartmoor Brewery's new Legend beer,
samples were ordered and drunk with pleasure, so a new set of jerseys
with the Legend logo added may soon be needed!
