Backward Somersault!
This is a very short report as I have forgotten
most of the route!! Having been out the previous Friday with Keith
in to
Clay Pits and got totally lost in the Mist we decided to try
and find the Bridle path through the pits and towards the Triangulation
point before dropping down to Wotter.
Leaving WP we headed up Earthquake, three of
us managed the climb relatively well but James struggled due
to a missing pint
of blood!!! I don’t think the tea and biscuits were a sufficient
boost!. At the top of Earthquake we headed for Cadover Bridge
and left up to the top of the pits, but not before Paddy decided
to do a few off road Moguls closely followed by me, unfortunately
too close on my Retro Marin, and managed a backward somersault
into fern!! So much for the off road bit!!
At the top of the pits and across to the pits it was easy to
follow the route to the Triangulation with the benefit of a clear
sunny evening, down to Wotter, Paddy narrowly missing a game
of Croquet on the descent!! Just past the Hotel we turned right
down the steep footpath towards the old railway line and along
to Cann Woods. James obviously spends far too much time in these
woods as he seems to know every path or shortcut going! But I
have to say we found some superb downhill sections in amongst
the trees until finally coming out on the cycle path. From the
cycle path we headed back to Clearbrook and back to HQ in time
for two or three well deserved pints and a check on James blood
cell count??!!

President's Footnote: Out of personal preference,
I missed tonight's ride, I was gutted! Did manage to catch up
with the riders at HQ though, a small consolation. I would like
to be given more details about this backwards somersault though!
