Date: Tuesday
15th July 2014
Route: WI, Pew Tor, Cox Tor, Stephen's Grave, split
west & east, HQ.
Riders: James, Jude, Gidon,
Gary, Martyn, Glen, Simon (not Dunlop) & Keith
Depart WI: 19:50
Arrive HQ: 22:25
Distance: 15 miles
Weather: Perfect
No two rides have ever been the same,
similar, but never the same. Also the permutations of riders appears
almost infinite and I can guarantee the combination tonight was brand
new. That may not have been the case until going down to Huckworthy
we met Glen coming up for his first Tuesday ride this year. I had an
inkling he might be out as he was one of three riders who earlier at
the Walkhampton sports day Dad's race wisely decided to save energy
for later!
The weather yet again was perfect, I
can't remember a better spell of Tuesdays. And the ride gave us ample
opportunity to enjoy the views to
the south and west. Not too much to report on the ride, went to Stephen's Grave and back.
We did have a split the far side of Roos Tor, four heading towards it
and four going around Cox Tor.
Unfortunately the Walkhampton Inn was
shut so we had to go the extra miles back to HQ. Now, if no two rides
or
rider make up have ever been the same,
the conversation has rarely been similar! It never ceases to amaze me
how much you can learn over a beer on a Tuesday night, who says only
woman gossip!!! It did get very confusing but naturally being gentlemen,
what was spoken on the ride or in the pub never goes any further!!
One thing
is for sure though, it is a small world and somebody knows everybody
and there are very few secrets!!
