Gentlemen of Willowby Cycle Club
No hill too steep, no beer too dear!

Date: Tuesday 1st April 2014
Route: WP, Golf Course, Plymbridge Trails, Turners, Diner, HQ.
Riders: Dan, Greg, James, Jude, Keith, Martyn, Sam & Gidon.
Depart WP: 19:40
Arrive HQ: 21:55
Distance: 16.8 miles
Weather: Partly cloudy few drops of rain and mild.

Beer: Partly cloudy few drops down the outside of the glass nice with red meat or a bag of chili crisps.

Exit Willowby park and tried to make up the gap – a prompt departure by the gentlemen left me straggling. Pick up Sam on the way and wind our way alongside the golf course or ‘gentle BMX park’. Over Martyn’s bridge, which he later claimed they have changed or repaired (excuses for past mis judgement, me thinks).

A stop in the tunnel to await the arrival of Monsieur Horler with burnt lungs, having played catch-up. On and down to the Plymbridge trail, of which we completed the first bit twice and the second bit once. A first for five of us but two of us had done it once or twice in the last two weeks of the third month of the year. Those down the first part first, were those that had first done the ride twice recently. If the first climb on the first leg was tough for the seven of us then the second climb on the first part of the second leg was tougher with a few dabs here and there.

Down to the railway track and a little detour for Sam and Greg down to the river before meeting up with the group to ascend the lung burner (James’s lungs were still smouldering) up to Woolwell.

Up to the Dartmoor diner, along the western side of the A386 on surprisingly dry terrain and back to HQ. Chewed the fat and talked about fat.

Great ride, reward earned.

President's Footnote: Greg forgot to mention (or didn't realise) the early emergency breaking examination he forced on us all right at the start when he suddenly took a sharp right turn off the cycle track. We all passed but it was so very nearly a mass GOWCC pile-up!!
